Project for the bored

So the other day I was all by my lonesome at the house and was looking for something to do! I ran across a yard sale that had a lot of older furniture so I stopped! I have been in need of some anyway. I seen two end tables that looked like they were made in the 1950's!
Ha anyway I told the guy I would take them- only costed me six bucks for both of them. I went home and realized they didnt match anything I own! In distress, I decided to make them my own! I bought sandpaper for two dollars at walmart and sanded them down to where all the bumps and bruises were out!
I felt really accomplished. But I still had no idea what step to take next. I called up to our Sherwin Williams that we have in town and bought some white paint and my mind was made up that this was going to be awesome! The paint was only ten american dollars... so I went and picked it up! I took all the handles off of the drawers in the end table. I primed and painted it and let it dry over night! The next morning I got up and returned the handles onto the drawers and took a good look at my masterpiece!! It was exactly what I wanted!
It sits in my bathroom and holds all of my extra needed stuff and wash cloths. I feel that I put it to very good use!!
Not to mention that it looks amazing and kept me occupied for a day and a half!!

Breakfast Anyone?????

In my house I'm the only one who knows how to cook!! And if you’re like me you don't have an hour in the morning to cook an I hop breakfast! Ha!
I have got some great ideas on different flavored pancakes and how to make this breakfast in less than ten minutes!
First of all, the night before when you’re just sitting in front of the television or on your cell phone, go to the kitchen! Go ahead and make your pancake batter up! Get an old ketchup or salad dressing bottle and fill it up! Put it in the refrigerator over night! This results in no mess in the morning when your in a hurry trying to get breakfast done!
Find your favorite candy! I use everything from chocolate chips to butterfingers and reeces!! Throw them in the fridge and leave them there for about an hour before going back and crushing the big pieces up!! Then put them back in the fridge! Go ahead and set your favorite pancake pan and spatula!! Your all set for in the morning!!
Alright so when you wake up all you want is your coffee right?? Well that’s my case! If your OCD like me then you could set that up the night before! I made good investments in my coffee pot therefore mine has a timer and starts making my coffee at six!!
Get your pancake batter out of the fridge! Start to make your pancake but do not forget about your chocolate! Pour the pieces into the bottle and “SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE” haha anyways,  then all you have to do is pour your idea of a perfect sized pancake and it takes a very short amount of time before you have amazing chocolaty pancakes right before your own very eyes!!!! YUMMY!
By the way if you have kids this is amazing!! I hope you enjoy your new and fun way of making pancakes!!!!

Movie Night:)

I recently watched a video movie called "Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts", and loved the content! In my high school years I took several "media" classes only because I knew they wouldn't be hard to pass, until I became a Junior and took a digital lab class! It was hard! But I tried my hardest to figure out what she was talking about and did not always know! My Senior year I took the second class that coordinates with the one I took the previous year! The same teacher as well. She never once told us what we had to do! We would draw names out of a basket on what project we each would get for the week and then we could trade if both parties agreed on it! I was then permanently assigned to the weekly newsletter! That is when I realized I loved design and decor! It was great!

The teacher in this video is almost identical in actions with this teacher! At one point in the video she states that sometimes she is the student and her kids teach her! This reminds me so much of my old lab class! We kept ourselves up to date as well as our teacher with her support guiding us most of the way!!
I myself love this method of teaching! When I do become a teacher I will definitely try this method and if it does not work for me then I will not proceed with it! It’s worth a try though! Technology is so important and students need to learn it as well as teachers!
Like the woman said in the video, paper and pencil may not work for every student! And it sure didn’t work for me! I am positive I will use the things I have learned and teach them to my students, and who knows, they could be teaching me! Ha!

Being Social With Social Media! :)

I have caught myself being glued to my phone many times looking at my facebook and twitter and it has sometimes gotten me in some big trouble, for example, when my mother is trying to talk to me!! That didn't turn out so well but is social media always that bad?

I use social media everyday but not just to chat or creep on other people's profiles. I use many internet social sites to help me with my decorating ideas and I have decided I'm dumping my boyfriend for Pintrest which you should really go check out if your into this kind of stuff!! So in a way I love social media! By the way I really wouldn't dump him for that! ;)

I did some snooping around the "internet" ha, and found that there are ups and downs to this crazy addiction! At the Chron website, the website that i visited, I found an article that shows the many down sides to social media. I can't say that I don't agree with most of the points they made!
A False Sense of Connection
Cyber-bullying
Decreased Productivity
Privacy
These are some of them! Very good points at that! But at the same time is there not up sides to this "social networking"? So I went snooping again! and found another article that focuses on the positive characteristics of social media. The Empowernetwork site covers five reasons that social media can be a good thing! And I favored these more!

1. Staying in touch with others
2. Support group
3. Making relationships stronger
4. Strengthen communities
5. New source of news

This website for sure looked at the brighter side of things! This was more of my taste in social media! Yeah, it distracts me sometimes but the "good outweighs the bad" as my grandma would put it!

A Little Bitta Background

Hi, my name is Krista Smith. I am nineteen years old and I am currently a student at Henderson State University. This is my freshman year and it’s almost over with because its finals week!! I am an Early Childhood Education major and have recently moved into a new house in Arkadelphia. The topic of this blog has to do with that fact.

I love all sports and love to run. I live with my best friend who just happens to be my cousin. We both love to decorate. Our new house is bound and determined to be a pretty one.My family and friends are amazing and i wouldn't trade them for the world. I have a boyfriend that I've seemed to have held on to for about two years now. He is so supportive and loves to watch me decorate. :) Though he won’t help out, it’s good to know somebody is appreciative of my hard work!

I love design and quick shortcuts to doing so. I scrapbook and love to paint and decorate but I don't always have the time to finish a project. This doesn’t just include décor, but also has small, “useless”, household items that can be used for organization for sure! Being a full time student and working 30 hours a week it’s hard to find that time. I use anything I can to help me out in organization as well.

This blog will cover quick and easy ways to do your favorite decorating and design projects. This is a fun way of keeping myself busy and satisfying me with the way that my home looks. This blog does not just cover home decor, it also covers scrap booking and other projects of such.

I hope everyone enjoys the tips and easy shortcuts that I enjoy using in my own home and projects.
